June 5, 2018 California Primary Election

Candidate filing opens February 15, 2018 and closes March 9, 2018

 

Office  Requirement
Superior Court Judge US citizen, registered voter of the state, member of the State Bar for 10 years or have served as a judge of a CA court of record for 10 years immediately preceding the election.
County Supervisor - 3rd District US citizen, registered voter of the district for 30+ days preceding the deadline of the nomination period.  Must reside in the district during incumbency.
County Supervisor - 4th District US citizen, registered voter of the district for 30+ days preceding the deadline of the nomination period.  Must reside in the district during incumbency.
Assessor-Recorder Registered voter of the county at the time nomination papers are issued; valid appraiser's certificate issued by the State Board of Equalization.
Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector Registered voter of the county; must meet at least one of the following: a) valid certificate from CA Board of Accountancy and CPA or public accountant, b) baccalaureate degree in accounting (or equivalent) and within the last 5 years served in a senior fiscal management position for a continuous 3+ years, c) a professional internal auditor certificate from the Institute of Internal Auditors and 16+ units in accounting, auditing or finance, d) served as county auditor, chief deputy auditor or chief assistant county auditor for continuous period of 3+ years; and must meet one of the following: a) served 3+ years in a senior financial management position in a county, city or other public agency, b) possess a baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degree in business administration, public administration, economics, finance accounting or a related field with a minimum of 16+ units in accounting, auditing or finance, c) possess a valid certificated from the CA Board of Accountancy showing the person is a CPA, d) possess a valid designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst by the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, e) possess a valid Certified Cash Manager certificate issued by the Treasury Management Association and 16+ units in accounting, auditing and finance.  Continuing education required if elected.
County Clerk Registered voter of the county when the nomination papers are issued.
County Superintendent of Schools Registered voter of the county when the nomination papers are issued and must possess a valid credential from the State Board of Education and a valid certification authorizing adminstrative services or elementary/secondary administrative credentials.
District Attorney – Public Administrator Registered voter of the county when nomination papers are issued and must be admitted to practice in the State Supreme Court.
Sheriff-Coroner Registered voter of the county when nomination papers are issued and must meet one of the following criteria: a) active or inactive advanced certificate issued by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training; b) one year of full-time salaried law enforcement experience within the last 5 years prior to filing and a master's degree from a college or university; c) two years experience and a bachelor's degree from a college or univeristy; d) three years experience and an associate in science degree; e) four years experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.
