We will then send you a new ballot. If there is no time to mail a second ballot to you, you may pick up a second ballot at the County Elections Office located at 701 Ocean St., Room 210 in Santa Cruz.
Marking more voting spaces than allowed for a contest is called an overvote. For example, in this election you may vote Yes or No on the measure. If you vote for both options, your vote will count as an overvote for that contest and neither side will benefit from your selection.
Voting is not a test. You may leave contests blank. Blank votes are called undervotes and do not affect votes cast on other measures.
After you have voted your ballot, remove the top stub from your ballot by tearing at the perforated line.
Place the ballot in the return envelope provided. This envelope has identification information unique to you that we use in processing your returned ballot.
SIGN your name on the envelope in the space provided. If you do not sign your envelope, we can not count your ballot. Do not let someone else sign your name on your behalf.
Write the address where you live in Santa Cruz County on the envelope in the space provided. Do not write your P.O. Box or work address.
Mail it in the green envelope provided. Postage is paid.
Allow sufficient time for the elections official to receive your ballot in the mail. We suggest you mail it by Wednesday before Election Day.
Yes. You must return your ballot to the county elections official no later than 8 pm Election Day. You may personally drop it off at one of the locations listed below starting April 8 or you can have a relative or someone who lives with you drop it off.
