Sample Ballots Booklets Delayed

The Santa Cruz County Elections Department recently learned that due to an error at the mailhouse, 28,340 Sample Ballot and Voter's Information Pamphlets were delayed.

All Sample Ballot booklets have been mailed to all voters as of October 25. If voters do not receive their Sample Ballot booklets by Saturday, October 28, please call the Elections Department immediately at 454-2060 and another one will be mailed. The Elections Department will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, if voters want to call or visit the office and obtain their Sample Ballot booklet or ballot.

In the meantime, if voters want to request a vote-by-mail ballot, they do not have to wait for the application on the back cover of their Sample Ballot booklets. Voters may either download the vote-by-mail application on the website at www.votescount.com and mail it to 701 Ocean St., Room 210, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 or FAX it to 831-454-2445. In addition, the Voter's Information Pamphlet is available on the website for viewing.

For voters who do not have access to the Internet, they may write a note with their name, address where they live, address where they want the ballot mailed and signature. Mail or FAX the vote-by-mail ballot application as indicated above.

The deadline for requesting a vote-by-mail ballot is Tuesday, October 31.

Elections Officials apologize to voters for this delay.
