Oscar Rios
For Watsonville City Councilmember, District 2

Occupation: Retired Union Representative                           Age: 66

Our city faces many challenges. We need to improve our streets, parks, and the safety of our neighborhoods. We need housing, better paying jobs, and opportunities for our young people. This is not easy to accomplish in the current economy.

Neighbors and friends have asked me to return to the City Council because I have been able to make a difference. When I served as Mayor and Council member, I worked with neighbors and built partnerships with businesses, our school district, and city staff to get things done. A few projects I am most proud of are the downtown Youth Center, transit center, River Park, Target shopping center, indoor soccer arena, and the affordable housing ordinance. I enjoyed meeting with neighbors and making improvements happen, such as paving dirt alleys and installing brighter street lights and sidewalk handicap ramps. I was honored to serve.

With your support I will be honored to represent District Two again. I love this city. The people of Watsonville are strong and hard-working and we take care of each other. Working together we can continue to improve our district and our city.
